Babe in Cashland

…was an anonymous blog I wrote while working in financial services from 2007 – 2009, which you may remember as the years when all the money in the world broke. It was a miserable, scary, infuriating, sometimes hilarious time. It was also great material, even after I finally got laid off in September of 2009.

Some of the links are broken, and some of the videos aren’t available. It’s a little ramshackle, is what I’m saying. But the heart of it is still there.

One quick note: there’s a post in BIC that links out to a site called Zero Hedge, which I’m *not* linking to again here, because it turns out they are a far-right libertarian site which I want nothing to do with. I didn’t know it at the time (there was a lot I didn’t know about the financial world at the time). All I knew was that when I googled about a particular situation, one of their pieces came up, it explained one thing that I was looking for an explanation for, and that was it. (It’s mildly embarrassing to say now that I didn’t even think to poke around to learn more about them at the time, but it’s also true that things hadn’t become nearly as toxic as they are now, tech-wise. I thought it was just one of a number of financial blogs.) I can’t imagine anyone is even going to read this, but for the record, Zero Hedge sucks. I know that now, and hopefully so do you.
